Accelerated Reader Information
Accelerated Reader helps focus attention on careful reading of books, which improves students’ critical-thinking skills and builds the intrinsic love of reading. Students are allowed to choose their own books and read them at their own pace. After reading their book, a student takes a quiz on a school computer and receives points based on the book's length, its level of difficulty, and their performance on the quiz. Lake Hills currently provides 4,450 reading quizzes to help motivate and monitor increased reading practice. Both the student and teacher get immediate, individualized constructive feedback to direct ongoing reading practice. The title, author, reading level, and possible quiz points are listed on these pages which will appear in a separate window.
