THE KIDS CAFE opened in May and hosted 6 classes from Lake
Hills Elementary. As students entered the cafe, they were greeted
with the sounds of Spanish music and candlelit tables for their
dining pleasure. Our cafe assistancts served juice drinks and
desserts to each class as they enjoyed their lunch.
The goal of our class project was to
leverage the benefits of theater to increase knowledge and understanding
of several selections of literature. |

Students auditioned for specific roles
and we worked on our script and stage blocking for several weeks.
Mike Conn, our art teacher, helped us construct library backdrop
and our parents helped with much of the costuming.
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED
what it would be like to have
the stories and poems in a library come to life? During our class
play, The Bookshelf Theater, a weary custodian suspects
problems in the school library after it has been locked up for
the night. Imagine this! |
