The play dates are set—May 15, 16,17. We will offer 6 afternoon performances during the run and remain after school on Thursday, May 17, for a movie and dinner before we present an evening performance. Please mark your calendars NOW for these performance dates. In addition, some students will need to reserve Friday evening, May 18, to participate in the “on location” filming in downtown Grand Haven. More details about the entire production will be released after spring break.

MARCH MADNESS

TIME JOURNEY PRODUCTION
Our class play is called “Time Journey: Capturing Our Colonial Past.” The 39-page script came off the press this week and focuses on the significant role of five colonial leaders during the American Revolution. Panic among a group of students after they receive an assignment leads to a creative approach involving time travel to solve their problem. We hope to take the stage production and extend our efforts into a video production this spring.

Time Travelers Stuart, Emma, Dalton, Arden, and Nick lead the class into an adventure back in time to colonial America.

PARENTS NEEDED
We need some parents who are interested in working with us on our class play and video production. In fact, we may need a few more adults to play colonial leaders. Most of the work, however, will be behind the scenes. We especially need some assistance in making several elaborate colonial costumes. If you would like to help with the play/production in some manner, please email Mr. Chittenden.

MUSEUM FIELD TRIP
The fifth grade students will be traveling to the Grand Rapids Public Museum on Tuesday, March 20. Students will need $7 for this field trip and a sack lunch (no glass). Additional spending money for the gift shop and carousel is optional. We are also scheduled for a 12:30 show at the Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium. Our class may include 6 chaperones for this trip. If you would like to accompany us on the bus ride, please indicate your interest on the form sent home with your child. Chaperone cost is $10.

SPELLING BEE WINNERS
Congratulations to the 7 students who will represent our class in the fifth grade spelling bee on Tuesday, March 6, at 2:45 in the Media Center: Drew Cannon, Brandt Gruizinga, Dalton Tuggle, Caleb Staskiewicz, Sam Reck, McKenna Mahacek, and Nick Scarpino.
